If you’ve never driven or been in a Trabant, let us tell you that it truly is a special occasion. It’s got a unique noise, a very odd shift pattern and it’s actually not as slow as you’ve been lead to believe. Also, the experience of mixing oil into your gasoline before you put it in the tank never gets old.

The Trabant is not particularly special in any (technical) way, other than through the fact it was very popular throughout the Eastern Block countries from the 1960s all the way to the 1980s.

For a detailed view of how it operates, do check out Nick Murray’s video posted here.
