Audi RS4 Avant vs Vauxhall VXR8

Lets say you are in a big dilemma, choosing a fun to drive estate. You eliminate almost all options, with only two cars remaining: an Audi RS4 Avant and a Vauxhall VXR8 (left hand drive is available as a Holden GTS, but not as an estate). Both are humongously powerful, incredibly fast and fun to drive. While the VXR8 dances through every corner, the Audi flashes through like it’s on train rails, thanks to its 4-wheel drive.

The Audi RS4 has a 4.2l V8 FSI petrol engine that develops 450hp and 430Nm, enough power to propel the car to 100km/h in 4.7 seconds.

Vauxhall VXR8 possess a 6.2l petrol engine that develops 425hp, notice that there is a 2-liter difference between the engine dimensions in these two cars. That difference affects cars weight, implicitly it’s performance, making a 0-100km/h sprint 4.9 seconds.

Both cars are limited to 250km/h. RS4 has very beautiful shapes, while the VXR8 looks rather odd. There is quite a huge gap between these two, in terms of prices where the Audi costs 81.100 euro (65.000 euro in UK), while the Vauxhall is 58.500 euro (price for UK).

In the end, it depends on your taste, if you want to drive your kids to school in elegance, comfort and safety, or drive sideways in every corner, forgetting that they are on the backseat waiting to drop them at school.
